FAQS
How difficult is the hike to Rainbow Mountain?
▼The hike is considered moderate to challenging due to the high altitude (5,000 meters / 16,400 ft). It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours uphill. Good acclimatization in Cusco is highly recommended.
Can I visit Rainbow Mountain if I’m not used to high altitudes?
▼Yes, but it’s important to spend at least 2–3 days in Cusco before the hike. We also offer oxygen and coca tea during the trek if needed.
Is the Red Valley extension worth it?
▼Absolutely! Red Valley is a surreal, less-visited area near Rainbow Mountain, offering stunning rust-colored landscapes and fewer crowds. It requires a small extra fee and about one additional hour of hiking.
What should I bring for this tour?
▼We recommend warm layers, a waterproof jacket, hiking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, a reusable water bottle, and snacks. Don’t forget your camera!
Is this tour suitable for children or seniors?
▼Due to the altitude and physical effort required, this tour is best for travelers in good health. We recommend it for ages 10 to 65, but always consult your doctor if unsure.
What if it rains? Is the tour cancelled?
▼The tour runs normally even if it rains. We recommend you carry a rain poncho or a waterproof jacket. It would only be cancelled due to extreme conditions.
