Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco MTB Adventure in the Sacred Valley
🚐 07:30 am – Hotel pickup in Cusco & drive to Chinchero
Your mountain biking Cusco adventure begins early with hotel pickup in Cusco. As we leave the city behind, the road climbs into the Andean highlands, revealing wide open landscapes, patchwork farmlands, and traditional Quechua villages — the perfect warm-up for one of the most exciting Peru bike tours.
🚴♂️ 08:45 am – Misminay village & MTB briefing at Moray Viewpoint (3,700 m)
At the scenic community of Misminay, you’ll receive your mountain full suspension bike, helmet, and protective gear. After a detailed safety and riding briefing, we take time to enjoy sweeping views over the Sacred Valley — a moment that clearly shows why this route is considered among the best mountain biking in Peru.
🚴♂️ 09:30 am – Ride to Moray archaeological site
We roll into our first section of MTB Peru Cusco, riding dirt roads and single-track trails toward Moray. This intermediate-level ride blends smooth flow with mild technical challenges. At Moray, explore the mysterious circular terraces once used as an Inca agricultural laboratory, while your guide explains how ancient civilizations mastered high-altitude farming.
🚵♂️ 10:30 am – Downhill ride to the Maras Salt Mines
The trail opens up into an exhilarating downhill descent toward the famous Maras Salt Mines. Gravel paths, gentle switchbacks, and fast-flowing sections make this one of the most thrilling segments of mountain biking Cusco. Along the way, enjoy dramatic views of snowcapped peaks, terraced hillsides, and alpacas grazing freely in the Andes.
🏔️ 11:30 am – Guided visit to the Salt Mines of Maras
We park the bikes and explore the Salineras de Maras on foot. Learn how local families continue harvesting salt using ancient methods passed down for generations. The contrast of brilliant white salt pools against red Andean cliffs creates one of the most iconic photo opportunities in Peru.
🚵♂️ 12:30 pm – Final descent to Pichingoto (Urubamba Valley)
The final descent delivers pure adrenaline. A zigzagging trail drops toward Pichingoto, a quiet riverside village hidden in the Sacred Valley. This section is faster, more technical, and perfect for intermediate mountain bikers looking to push their skills while staying safe with professional guide support.
