At this point, you will visit a traditional textile workshop where local women demonstrate ancestral weaving techniques using natural alpaca wool. In addition, this cultural experience supports the local community and adds meaning to your mountain biking Peru adventure.
🚴♂️ Morning Downhill Ride in the Sacred Valley
Trail 1: Moray to Maras
Next, we head to Moray, an impressive Inca archaeological site located near classic mountain bike Machupicchu routes. From here, the first downhill ride begins on a smooth and flowing trail surrounded by open fields and Andean mountains.
During this section, you will enjoy fun corners, natural features, and wide landscapes. As a result, this trail is perfect for warming up and getting comfortable with biking Peru.
Afterwards, we arrive in the village of Maras, where you can relax and enjoy a short snack break.
Trail 2: Maras to the Salt Mines
After that, the ride continues downhill from Maras toward the famous Salt Mines of Maras. Along the way, the trail crosses farmlands and rolling terrain with constant views of the Andes.
Meanwhile, your guide will explain the history of the salt mines, which are still used by local families today.
Because of this, this section is one of the most scenic parts of our enduro trips in the Sacred Valley.
Before moving on, there will be time for photos and a short rest.
🍽️ Midday Break in Urubamba
Then, we drive to Urubamba, the heart of the Sacred Valley. Here, you will enjoy a well-deserved lunch featuring local Andean flavors.
In addition, this break allows you to rest and recharge before the most exciting downhill ride of the day, making your mountain biking Peru experience more enjoyable.
🚵♂️ Afternoon Enduro Ride in Lares Valley
Trail 3: Abra Lares to Calca
Later in the afternoon, we drive up to Abra Lares at 3,900 meters above sea level. From this point, the final downhill ride begins, offering one of the best enduro trips in Peru.
During this one-hour descent, you will ride through a stunning mountain canyon with smooth flow, small jumps, and untouched landscapes. Therefore, this section perfectly represents the spirit of biking Peru and connects the Sacred Valley with the wider mountain bike Machupicchu region.
